Seamless Wi-Fi Access Across and Beyond Campuses with eduroam at Malaysian Politechnics and Community Colleges

Jabatan Politeknik dan Kolej Komuniti (JPPKK), under Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education, oversees a large network of polytechnics and community colleges across the country. With a highly mobile community of students, lecturers, and staff, JPPKK needed a secure, consistent, and easy way to stay connected—on campus, between institutions, and even in public spaces. Managing Wi-Fi access across multiple locations while ensuring security and ease of use was becoming a growing challenge.

To address these challenges, JPPKK adopted our eduroam SaaS solution, eliminating the need for each institution to run its own eduroam IdP infrastructure. With our eduroam IdPaaS, users can configure eduroam on their devices online with just a few clicks. The geteduroam application further simplifies the setup process for mobile users.

We also enabled roaming on the OpenRoaming network, allowing students and staff to use their eduroam credentials to connect securely in supported public areas such as airports, cafes, and transportation hubs—extending connectivity far beyond campus borders.
